I am ALWAYS a child of God.

Long time no Blog....

I had the opportunity to watch the General Women's Meeting for my church last night. This is where women of all ages of our church, from age 5 to 95, gather together to hear inspiring words from our church leaders. There were LOTS of awesome and motivating words shared. But one that stood out to me was the talk given by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. He reminded us that our Heavenly Father loves us so deeply and is ready to pour out blessings upon us if we are obedient.

Lately I have been slacking spiritually. Things have been so busy and I have not made reading my scriptures or praying a priority in my life. I haven't been doubting my divine potential or abilities, but I have felt guilty for not being the spiritual giant I know I can be. So obviously, these words from President Uchtdorf rang SO true and resonated within me.

"You will ALWAYS be a child of God."

I hope we can always remember that God's love for us is unconditional, and that we can find comfort in that when we make mistakes. I made this printable and am going to hang it somewhere where I will read it often. It will stand as a reminder to me that HE LOVES ME and he always will, so I should be constantly doing things to make him proud. :)

Anchor Your Souls in Christ Printable

I made some "printables" for our Young Women's in Excellence. This is the chance for the young girls at our church to showcase their talents and abilities and share their beliefs and testimonies of Jesus Christ.

Our theme came from the Book of Mormon, in Ether 12:4. It says: "Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God."

We had a great time. Even though we only have 4 Young Women in our ward, they ROCK. I love them.

Fun with Kenz

Before Kenz left for the big BYU, we took some fun shots. We got attacked my mosquitos also, but that's not as important.

I still don't have any idea how to REALLY edit photos, so I am just guessing. But it was still fun, nonetheless. (The last one is my favorite:) )

I am totally a wanna-be hipster photographer cool person.

I was asked by my devilishly handsome brother to take some pictures at his wedding to the breathtaking Mallory Hansen back in June.

I'm starting, little by little, to get into photography and I am getting better. I hope to one day do this and make a small income. (Anyone want some free pics?)

Tell me what you think of these. (I'm all about the details, as you can probably tell!)

A Thank You for Zooey Deschanel...

So here is the thing about Zooey Deschanel. EVERYONE is in love with her. She's a total hipster, and hipsters love hipsters.

Is she talented? Yes.

Does she have great hair? Definitely.

Is she totes super hilar cray cray funny? Yeah. Yeah.

So...what do I have in common with the Zooester?

Am I as talented as her? Probably not...

Do I have luscious locks comparable to hers? Hahaha...absolutely no. I have baby hairs.

Do I make people "LOL" with my humor? Sometimes...maybe. But not near as much as she.

Despite our differences, we do have one interesting thing in common:

Zooey Deschanel and I have the SAME knees. (Okay, we're also the same height and weight...but still)

I have a athletic body and a rather petite figure. But I DO have proportionately big thighs and BIG knees. Luckily, the biggness comes mostly from mucsle, which basically eliminates any hope I had of having skinny ankles. But I am very happy with my body. I really am.

But, as women do, I sometimes can't help but compare my body to other women. It happens.

When I first saw "500 Days of Summer" I couldn't help but notice the STRIKING resemblance that my knees had with Zooey's. Not fat by any means, but THICK. LARGE. WIDE KNEES. In comparison to the rest of her body. Knees that made her wear black pantyhose all the time. Knees that made it look awkward when she wore short skirts.  Knees that made me STRANGELY happy inside.

In that moment, I realized that I was AWESOME. And not even because me and Zooey are so similar. But because I have something that probably a MILLION other people have and struggle not to complain about on a daily basis. Thick knees. But they are WORKING knees.

So...I am happy to announce my pledge to the blogging world that I will NO LONGER be complaining about my lovely, disproportionate, thick knees. Because Zooey Deschanel has them too...

Ain't nobody got time fo dat'.

Can I get a WELCOME?

Here's our new blog. Yay!

Chatty CathyAnyone ever heard the of a Chatty Cathy? It was a doll produced in the 1960's that actually TALKED! If you've ever been called a Chatty Cathy, that means you talk to much. You might want to work on that...

It just so happens that my husband is Chad. And I am Catherine. So there you go. Chaddy Cathy. Pretty creative, right?

Read this:

"Dolls have always happily provided companionship to little girls, acting as security blanket and trusted companion. But Chatty Cathy offered something more, something special. Not only could you talk to Chatty Cathy and share your woes but, thanks to the tug of a ring on a string, Cathy could talk back.

And talk she did.

She could offer words of encouragement (“I love you!”), bark orders (“Take me with you!” or “Change my Dress!”) and even make helpful suggestions to alleviate boredom (“Let’s play house!”.) Her eleven (and later, 18) simple and random phrases were enough to satisfy the conversational needs of most girls and give them that special friend that they longed for after a harrowing day of preschool or a traumatic run-in with a sinister sibling.

From her inception in 1959, Chatty Cathy was an instant hit, a must-have on the ol’ Christmas list and Mattel Toys was more than happy to comply with those demands and deliver. Cathy was offered in a variety of styles, with various complexions, eye colors, and hairstyles available, along with a number of wardrobe choices ranging from average toddler attire to fur coats and other fashionable items.

But, of course, it was the voice that was music to the ears of many a youngster and a special voice it was – not to mention familiar. June Foray, who provided Chatty Cathy with vocal chords is also known as one of the most prolific female voices in the industry."

Doesn't that sound like me?

So, ladies and gents...I will attempt to do the inevitable, and hope to "satisfy the conversational needs" of most women and girls after a harrowing day at work or school or a traumatic run-in with a sinister fill in the blank.

Just a disclaimer: I'm not witty. I'm not obsessed with fashion or DIY or baking delicious goodies. I honestly just have a lot of spare time on my hands. Seriously, I do.
Let me be YOUR Chatty Cathy! I'll do most of the talking, and Chad will be there to rub your back or offer moral support. (As he OFTEN does)
